Today, Xplore! Science Discovery Centre announced the continuation of their partnership with Principality Building Society. Thanks to a new round of funding Xplore! will be expanding their Principality Building Society saving school sessions and launching an exciting program of coding clubs this summer.
This funding will enable engagement with an additional 6,000 young people across North Wales and Northwest England through Principality saving school activities. These sessions, designed for younger learners, emphasise the importance of saving and money management and provide hands-on experience working in a Principality branch.
In addition to expanding their ongoing sessions, Xplore! will be running coding clubs in August and September 2023 for children aged 9-12 and their families. These sessions will introduce participants to the basics of coding, including movement, sensing, gameplay, and design using Scratch software.
Katie Williams, Business Development Officer at Xplore!, said: “Our partnership with Principality has continued to evolve over the years. This new funding is incredible and will allow us to offer our Saving School workshops to even more pupils in the region. We’re also excited to trial a Coding Club for young people during the summer holidays and as after-school club sessions, providing children and their families with the opportunity to learn together.
“We’re also grateful for the sponsorship of our Science Festival, Darganfod//Discover, taking place on August 5th and 6th this year. And we’re thrilled to announce that we’ll once again be working with Hope House Ty Gobaith to deliver science activities for their children.”
Tony Smith, Chief Governance Officer at Principality Building Society, said: “We’re delighted to continue growing our relationship with Xplore!. Their work in the community is a testament to their team. We’re passionate about teaching money skills from a young age, and these sessions provide interactive challenges that enhance the learning experience.
“We’re also proud that Xplore! will be returning to Hope House Ty Gobaith, one of our charity partners, over the summer to deliver fun activities for the children in their care, we know how much these are enjoyed and we can’t wait to hear all about them.”
