At Xplore! Science Discovery Centre, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn and discover the wonders of science in a way that feels comfortable and inclusive for them. That’s why we are excited to announce that we will be hosting an Inclusion Day, a special event designed to make our centre more welcoming for those with an additional need or disability once a month.
We know that our previous sensory day wasn’t working for the community, and we’ve listened. We believe that Inclusion Day will be a more inclusive and welcoming event for all visitors, regardless of their abilities.
The first three events are partially funded by Science and Technology Facilities Council Impact Project, meaning that we are able to offer a reduced rate of £5.50 for general admission, Xplore! also offers free admission for carers. All you need is proof of carer status.
On Inclusion Day, we will be hosting a drop-in version of our current science show that will allow visitors to interact in a way that feels comfortable for them. Our team of experienced educators will be on hand to help visitors navigate the show and make sure that they are getting the most out of their experience. We understand that everyone learns differently, and we want to make sure that our show is always accessible to everyone.
In addition to the drop-in show, we will also be offering a sensory space for visitors to use if they need it. This space will be a quiet and calming area where visitors can take a break from the hustle and bustle of the centre and relax. We understand that visitors may need a break from the noise and activity of the centre, and we want to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to take a break if they need it.
We are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all visitors. We hope to see you at our Inclusion Day events on the:
