Construct and test canal systems used to carry water. Build upon team work skills, communication and problem solving to create value.
Learners will discuss the history and importance of canals for transportation and consider what makes a strong bridge/aqueduct. Using this, in groups, students will have to create a canal system using the materials provided in our kit to carry water from the water source to the factory, which so happens to be on the other side of the valley. After constructing a canal and aqueduct, each group’s model will be tested to see how much water it can carry before failure.
As an added twist, different components have a different value and groups must work to a low budget.
