What is Xplore!?

Xplore! (Formerly Techniquest Glyndŵr) is a Science Discovery Centre with more than 100 hands-on interactive exhibits that are designed to challenge visitors’ understanding of science in a fun and educational way.

Based within Wrexham town, our visitor centre provides a great space for all the family to enjoy.

How do I book a visit to Xplore?

Xplore! has a pre-booking system to make it much easier to book you visit ahead of time.

We do sell tickets at reception but it is always best to book ahead to avoid disappointment.

I already have an Annual Pass; how do I book?

For existing pass holders, please book online and use your reference number at the point of payment. Don’t forget to bring your pass with you on the day.

Do I have to pay to visit?

Yes, Xplore! charges a admission fee to use the exhibits. Admission is valid for the full session and you are free to come and go as you please. The admission price includes our science show which changes throughout the year so no two visits to Xplore! are ever the same. To find out what the show is you can check here

Xplore! is a charity that generates an income from booking fees, grants and sponsorship to meet our charitable aims and objectives.

Your entrance fee will enable us to reach out to children who wouldn’t otherwise be able to access our centre, and we’re extremely grateful for all additional donations that visitors may be able to give.

Do you offer free admission for carers?

We do! Visitors with disabilities (paying full adult/child admission charge) may admit one accompanying carer* free of charge. If more than one carer is required, please let us know.

Please bring relevant proof of entitlement. For example, an agency ID card,  DLA/PIP letter or book (issued by DWP office) or Blue Badge.

*Please note, to qualify as an accompanying carer at Xplore!, you must be aged 16 years or over

Where is the centre?

Xplore! is located with Henblas Street on one side and Chester street on the other, just across the road from Tŷ Pawb and is right in the heart of Wrexham.

When are you open?

Down

Xplore! is currently open to public visitors 3 days a week from Friday to Sunday during Wrexham Term Times. We are open 7 days a week during Wrexham school holidays.

As well as our exhibition space we have a science shop and a cafe. Both of which are open 7 days a week from 09:30 until 17:00.

How long should we spend at the centre?

From visitor survey’s the average visitor spends between 2 hours and 3 hours with us but you are welcome to stay as long as you would like and your ticket allows you to come and go throughout the day. Your visit to Xplore! also includes a live science show as part of your entry price, make sure to factor this in to your visit.

How can I pay for my visit?

Booking online requires card payments. Visitors purchasing a ticket in-centre are welcome to pay by card or cash.

We accept payment by cash, personal cheque (up to the value of your banker’s card), Visa and MasterCard within our café and gift shop.

Is there anywhere to get something to eat and drink?

We have a café within our new science centre. It offers a selection of snack options.

We try and cater for as many different dietary requirements as possible and if you are unsure, our staff will be more than happy to check the ingredients.

Our café is located within the centre and provides a viewing area for those wishing to rest their legs whilst being able to keep an eye on their little ones.

Does Xplore! have a membership scheme?

Yes! Our annual membership scheme offers visitors 12 months of unlimited admission for less than the price of four individual visits.

If you plan to visit us at least four times in the year, this is the cheapest way to pay. Members receive a 10% discount in our shop and additional benefits such as invitations to member-only events and science show previews.

Can I leave my children at the centre and collect them later?

Children 15 or under must be accompanied by an adult at all times during their visit. Unfortunately, we cannot allow a child into the centre unless they are with a responsible adult 18 years of age or older. This rule is strictly enforced.

I have a discount voucher, when can I use it?

Down

This will depend on the type of voucher you have. Please check the terms and conditions and the expiry date, some vouchers will be exclusively for pre-booked tickets online. We regret that we cannot accept out-of-date vouchers.

Can I get to the centre by public transport?

Yes! Train and bus links are available.

Is there car/coach parking nearby?

Car parks are located within a short walk of our centre. The closest are the Wrexham Council car parks at Ty Pawb (LL13 8BY), Waterworld (LL13 8BG) and the Library (LL11 1WS).

Do you have an access statement?

How can I check for lost property?

Down

All lost property is handed in at reception. Please check there before you leave the centre to see if your item has been found. If you need to check after your visit then please call 01978 293400.

Are you allowing birthday parties?

Will anti-bacterial products be available?

Down

There are anti-bacterial products available throughout the building. Visitors may use them before and after interacting with each exhibit. If you would like to use these please ask a member of staff and they will be more than happy to help you.

Do I need to wear a mask or other face covering to enter Xplore!?

Down

In line with Welsh Government advice it isn't a legal requirement to do so but if you would feel more comfortable using a mask then please do so.

How will the interactive displays be monitored for cleanliness?

Down

Staff are monitoring exhibits and toilet facilities throughout the sessions.
